Transit "Employee of the Year" Honored, Safety Recognized

Gossard Selected as the 2008 “Employee of the Year

Transit Operator and Dispatcher Scott Gossard was named Clallam Transit System’s “Employee of the Year” for 2008 by General Manager Terry Weed during the system’s annual awards ceremony on March 15 in Port Angeles. Weed made his selection from six employees nominated by their coworkers for outstanding performance. CTS employs 70 people to support and provide public transit service throughout Clallam County. Weed said Gossard is highly respected by his peers and is considered the “ultimate professional operator”.

In announcing the winner, Weed read from the nomination which stated that “Scott demonstrates an interest in the growth and integrity of Clallam Transit. This interest is demonstrated in several ways, in addition to his obvious driving demeanor: through his commitment to training, where his teaching of safety is unsurpassed; through his thirst for knowledge as shown by dispatching skills where he has proven his ability to keep the operation running smoothly; and through his involvement on different employee committees from Labor Relations to Safety. These characteristics, as an all-around great asset, are undeniable and he can have fun, too. These are very positive traits which reflect on all of us at CTS.”

Other nominees included Transit Operators Pete Christensen and Rickie Ronish; Operations Supervisor Jerry Reynolds; Clerk/Information Operator Sonya McKibbon; and Mechanic Larry Latson. Weed noted all the nominees were outstanding employees.
