Transit Operator

Position Overview
Responsible for operating public transit vehicles to transport passengers to various destinations within the service area in a safe, timely, and professional manner. This position provides critical contributions to support Clallam Transit System’s (CTS) mission to enhance quality of life, bolster mobility, and create opportunities through transit.

Summary of Required Qualifications
High school diploma or high school equivalency.
Five consecutive years of licensed driving experience.
A valid driver's license or ability to obtain.
Meet all requirements and obtain a class B Washington State commercial driver's license (CDL), with proper licensure, during training period.
Paid training is provided at Clallam Transit System for obtaining the required CDL.
Compensation
$26.51-$34.46 per hour: Starting wage is $26.51 per hour, moving to $28.16 per hour after successful completion of the 180-day probationary period. Operators receive pay increases on their anniversaries up to $34.46 (2024-2026 wage scale) and annual cost of living increases.
Working Conditions
This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with CTS policy and federal regulations. Represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 587.

Fixed-route Instructor

Position Overview
Responsible for providing instruction to fixed-route transit operators on the safe operation of fixed-route transit vehicles, including familiarization of routes and schedules and other transit related matters. Assignments include preparation for and classroom instruction, curriculum development, CDL instruction, and on-road training. Maintain records, prepare reports, and submit daily progress reports to the training supervisor, as required. Attend training as needed.
Summary of Required Qualifications
Current CTS employee who has successfully completed the probationary period as a fixed-route operator.

Operations Coordinator
$27.79 - $37.38/hour depending on experience

Position Overview
Under the direction of the Clallam Transit System (CTS) operations manager, or designee, the position supports the operations department as assigned including coordination of employee schedules, time, attendance, leave, and timekeeping processes to include tracking and reporting activities. Responsible for accident reporting and tracking activities, customer complaints and grievances, and agency records management activities.
Summary of Required Qualifications
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate (GED) and two years’ experience and/or training in public transportation or satisfactory combination of related experience and training providing required knowledge, abilities, and skills.

Non-represented position designated as at-will employment. Position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
